My mum used to whistle this tune (Begin the Beguine) as she was going about her housework when we were kids. It’s from an old movie called “Night and Day” starring Cary Grant as Cole Porter (who wrote the song), and Monty Wooley as his promoter pal. I still whistle the same tune, when going about my day, after me ma, who just recently passed away on the 20th of April 2020 aged 97 due to the Covid-19 virus. She loved music, (played the piano and sang) and also loved to dance. The foregoing prompted me to paint this picture also entitled “Begin the Beguine” which is taken from a still from the movie.
